Naomi+Food+Video=CUTE

We took a video of Naomi the other day when she got her first taste of food.  She has eaten this enthusiastically every time I've fed her since (4 times)!  Hopefully she is always this easy to please when it comes to meal time.

First Taste

I'm sure you guessed this was coming next.  Naomi had her first taste of baby food tonight!  Of course, she tried the brown rice cereal I slaved over for the past two days.  The way she reacted to it almost made me want to eat a spoonful, almost.  She was very gung-ho from the first liquidy bite.  I mean it was quite amusing.  She had a smile plastered on her face while she gobbled up the first bowlful.  I made her a second bowl and she excitedly waited as I stirred milk into the rice cereal to thin it out.  I know Naomi seems to be developing in leaps and bounds, but I never for a second expected her to be so ready for food.  She was over the moon in love with the rice cereal!  She liked it so much she was grabbing for my hand and the spoon every time it came within her arms reach.  And goodness she was making the cutest faces as she ate, and in no way am I biased about my daughters adorableness at all.  Without further adieu, here are the pictures of Naomi's first baby food experience.
Hmm, what's this?

I'm intrigued and think I want more

As an afterthought, I was editing this post and scrolled through the pictures quickly.  It's funny how serious Naomi is in the beginning of the pictures and uber happy by the last one.

Brown Rice Cereal - Part 2

Yesterday I gushed over how easy it was to make homemade ground rice cereal.  Today I decided to cook it.  I was actually surprised at how little work actually went into making it.  Now I am kicking myself for just trying it out now.  The lesson here is that I'm going to make as much homemade baby food (fruit, veggie, protein, grain) as possible.  1/2 of a cup of the ground brown rice plus 4 cups of water made 12 individual servings of cereal for Naomi to eat!!  So here are the final production pictures.

Adventures in homemade baby food

It's about that time...Naomi is 4 and 1/2 months old I think she's ready to try out a little baby food.  She will start with rice cereal.  Since I'm at home I decided to try and make it myself instead of buying a box of it at the store.  Way back when I was still pregnant I saw a little something called the Baby Bullet.  It's essentially the exact same thing as the Bullet (the blender) but smaller and cuter...it has happy faces on the containers!  If you know me at all you know I can't resist anything in miniature size, and the happy faces were really damn cute.  So cute in fact that I gave one to my bestie Elena at her most recent baby shower!  Hope you've had a chance to use it Len!  Anyways, it comes with a storing tray that has 6 spaces so I can make 6 meals at a time and pop the tray in the freezer or fridge.  Fortunately for me, Leo totally indulges my crazy antics and got me the Baby Bullet cook book!  It's totally cute, with little happy faced fruits, veggies and chickens throughout the recipe pages...they help me "see" what goes in the recipe so I never have to read a recipe again (if you really know me, you know I rarely read directions to anything, including recipes).  So tonight I ground up some brown rice and will give it a go sometime in the next few days.  Here are a few pictures!

My sweet boys

Just a quickie...

I was changing Naomi's diaper in her/Julian's shared room and I hear the boys in the hallway talking.  It was the shortest, sweetest conversation I have had the pleasure of overhearing.

Noah: I really missed you today Julian.
Julian: no response
Noah: I'm glad to see you

---quiet---

I look into the hallway to see Noah and Julian hugging.

Julian: I missed you too Noah
