First Hot Day = Slip N Slide

It was 82 degrees here today but it felt much hotter sitting in the backyard with the kids.  So we decided to bring out the new slip n slide.  The kids had a blast (as I am sure you can see from the pictures).  This year we picked a shark slip n slide.  The shark sprays water onto the plastic slide part and then the water stops flowing to the spout and his mouth chomps down on the unlucky (or lucky) slider!  All three of the kids loved it.

Easter!

Ahhh Easter.  What can I say about this holiday other than it's a really great day for quality family time.  We usually have a brunch with both famillies or go out of town but this year we found ourselves on our own and made the best of it.  The night before I helped the kids dye eggs, a holiday tradition that is always a hit or skip for us.  But the boys (and even Naomi) really enjoyed it this year so I think we will do it again.  As a matter of fact Julian and Naomi even ate a hard boiled egg and liked it!  Yay!

The boys had dinosaur baskets since they have been so interested in dinosaurs lately.  They both got a book, tattoos, and an aracheologist dig kit.  And candy of course!  They loved them!

Pretty little princess Naomi got a unicorn themed basket, complete with a unicorn squishable!  Love that thing, I might steal it from her.  She got a Sophia/unicorn book, unicorn tattoos, and candy!  She also loved her treats!

Breakfast!  I made a french toast bake that sat overnight marinating in it's sweet cream, milk, sugar and spice mixture.  It was delicious but a tad too sweet.  I felt a little ill after eating it.  Guess I'll look for a less sugary version next time.

Julian and Noah started on their dinosaur dig kits right away!  I mean seriously, there were outside at 8:00 am working on those things.  At least they were quiet and didn't wake the neighbors with screaming and yelling.

Finally, the grass was dry and we were all dressed and ready for the egg hunt!  They lined up, youngest to oldest and went out to the backyard one at a time.  I truly have no idea how many eggs I hid, I lost track.  But I know I had 10 hard boiled eggs (and they were all found).  The kids had a blast and it was fun to watch them!

Grandma came over and brought the kids each one of these handmade "ugly bunnies".  They have been all the rage in the house and no one will go to bed without them.

2nd Grade Presentation

Last week the 2nd graders gave a presentation featuring important people and artists.  It was one of the best presentations I have been to!  I was so impressed with all the kids and how much they actually learned!  The art teacher, Linda did an amazing job with the kids.

We went through a journey of what their lessons.  First they sang some songs and signed them as well.  They had spent a portion of the lessons learning about Helen Keller.  The faces the kids made to go along with the hand gestures were perfect...so funny and right on key with the feelings they were trying to portray.

Then we watched their miming skills that they learned from lesson on Marcel Marceau.  It was hilarious to watch 60+ 2nd graders miming that they were stuck in a box.

Eric Carle was the next important person they learned about.  Some of the children, including Noah, participated in a skit about The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Noah was part of the salami that the caterpillar ate through.

Last but not least the kids all created puppets while they learned about Jim Henson.  Their puppets all talked and sang.  They were all funny and unique!

Spring Breakers

Ahhh, Spring Break.  Much like the young, college aged adults who partake in beach town fun for the week, the Tesauro's also headed to the coast to party.  Every morning we'd wake up and leisurely take care of business around the house, throw on our bathing suits and head out to Santa Cruz.  On Monday I didn't really know what to expect.  I was pleasantly surprised with the gorgeous weather and the emptiness of both the beach and The Boardwalk.  So much so that we went out 3 times during the week!  We spent plenty of time on the beach, playing in the sand and in the water.  I always find it funny how the kids never seem to notice how freezing the water at Santa Cruz actually is.  Picnic lunches kept our energy up for running and digging.  It was actually so hot on Monday that I got a pretty good sunburn.  Of course how could we keep going out to The Boardwalk and not hit up the rides?  So one day was dedicated to solely walking around, snacking on food and getting on rides.  The kids had some classic faces and a fantastic time!  We ended each day with a yummy ice cream from Marianne's on the way home.  We also spend a couple days at home just hanging in the backyard, the boys got haricuts and even had a visit with the Easter Bunny!  All in all I'd say it was an awesome week (and I also have a very strong urge to watch The Lost Boys).
