Jog-A-Thon Time!

It's make your mama proud time and my boys did just that!  The school jog-a-thon is a huge event with loads of volunteers, an MC, snacks, refreshments, cooling stations, rewards, a BBQ lunch, etc.  All that means it's really fun.  There are 2 tracks set up, a larger one, which really isn't even 1/4 mile and a smaller one which is like an obstacle course for the pre-k kids.  The different grade levels run in groups, fortunately Noah and Julian ran at the same time this year (not so much next year).  They start with silly warm ups and are sent to a specified location around the track….the MC shouts "GO" and all hell breaks loose!  It's kids running every which direction, hurdling each other, bumping in to one another…all while music is blasting in the background.  It's like a crazy wedding singer playlist but the kids love it.  Noah would stop by the pre-k track to peek at Julian's progress and say hi…or just to high five me as he ran by.   Julian dominated his little obstacle course showing that he was definitely ready for the big track!  He even got a chance to run with the big kids towards the end of the alotted 1.5 hours and sprinted 4 laps out on the big track!  Color me impressed!  Noah and Julian both did so great, I am very proud of their jog-a-thon achievements!

Total laps:

Noah - 26
Julian - 19

WOW Comic Fest

A few weekends back we went downtown to eat at Original Joe's (YUM!).  We noticed people walking around in costumes - video game, superhero, comic book characters.  So we asked one of them what was going on….WOW Comic Fest.  Of course.  So we had to go check it out and see all the people dressed up and all the fun vendors selling comic books and related stuff.  We all had a good time wandering about.  Here are some pictures of the kids with people that were dressed up.

Swim Lessons!!

Naomi had her first swim lesson yesterday!  She did great!  I was a tad worried because when we brought the slip n' slide out a few weeks ago she was genuinely scared of it.  Like running away screaming, and not in an "I'm having so much fun!" way.  2 weeks later and she's more comfortable running on it and standing in the water.  I find it odd because last summer she was all about hanging out in the little pool at the end.  She'd camp out there for a long time!  Anywho, this reaction to the slip n' slide had me nervous that she was going to be a fussy water baby.  We arrived a little early and I watched another little girl, probably the same age as Naomi, cry the entire time she was in the pool.  She went as far as attempting to climb out and escape several times.  Poor thing.  I didn't want Naomi to hate the pool.  Please don't let her be that kid.  Naomi showed promise…she went right to the steps and got in the water with the instructor (Pamela - awwwww, first swim teacher).  I got in and HOLY SH*T it was freezing!  Seriously??!!  Who would turn off the heater before a bunch of babies had swim class?  Ugh.  Well we got past it and Naomi held on the the bar bell, went "under" the bridge, kicked a bit, monkey walked on the wall, went under water (!) and sang songs.  Aside from the blue lips and shivers she had a great time!  Looking forward to next week!  Hope the heater is turned on!
