Sometimes Quiet Doesn't Mean Mischief

It was silent in the house…no fighting, no crying, no whining, no running from room to room, no TV blaring.  What is going on in my house??  I have grown accustomed to the noise and am quite proud of my capability to tune it out, lest it's a cry-out in pain or something that sounds urgent.  Then I'm all ears running to the scene.  But when it gets too quiet…that's when a mom really worries.

As I was in the kitchen cooking dinner (a nice Italian meal of pasta, homemade meatballs and broccoli) I realized I heard no one.  No "Julian, don't do that!" from Noah.  No stampeeding elephant run through the house from Julian.  No TV blasting or Giants game from Leo.  No crying or being tugged at to be picked up by Naomi.  Well - in Naomi's defense she was being a very intent observer of all the goings on in the kitchen preparing dinner from her high chair.  So I wandered around the eerily quiet house and this is what I found.

here is yummy dinner

fast asleep

more fast asleep

quietly watching TV together

It stayed that way unti dinner was ready.  And after all the food had been eaten, the bellies were full, the pajamas were on, it went right back to that quiet.  With the exception of a little crying and the Olympics on TV.  And all was good in Tesauro land.
